The Daily Three

When I was a kid and my gramma was still alive, she loved to play the daily three. If something good happened with three numbers that day, those were the numbers she played. Sometimes it was her address. Sometimes it was my address. Sometimes she'd pick the numbers, sometimes I get to pick them. She'd often send me into the drugstore alone with the dollar to play the numbers. Simpler times, eh? Because now they'd never let a kid buy any kind of lottery ticket. Maybe in some smallish towns, but not where I grew up. I'd sidle up the counter, announce my three numbers, and tell the agent to "box 'em" (which means you can win if they appear in any order).

So I think I'll go buy a ticket. Tell 'em to box the numbers. Which are: One-Four-Seven.

YAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Just so you know how worried someone halfway across the country has been on your behalf (and because I have already "come out" as being totally NUTS on my own blog and have nothing to lose by revealing this), I had my big "court date" today (it went okay), and while we were waiting to be called all I kept thinking was "I wonder if Katie got her beta number yet...I wonder if she posted yet...if it's bad, and she doesn't post, it'll drive me nuts...what if it's good, and she's too busy celebrating?...why can't they call us, so I can go home to my computer." Then I got home and got the kids in bad and actually started procrastinating, doing DISHES, etc., because if it was bad news it was going to ruin my evening and put me in a piss-poor mood...so I waited for Pyg to go to bed so that if it was bad I wouldn't be accused of making a "face," or be tempted to say something nasty...then I just read this and woke him up yelling at the computer like a happy fool.

It was worth it. Congratulations, mamas!
